Yes. It is assumed that the dogs that can have picked up this ability in the course of being domesticated. Sowing the teeth is a threat signal in dogs, but they can tell that a person who is laughing is in a good mood. Some dogs have adopted this form of communication and use it only with humans they are really comfortable with.
